Senior Accounting & Automation Analyst

We are seeking a highly analytical Senior Accounting & Automation Analyst to support and scale our growing settlement operations.
This role sits at the intersection of accounting, financial operations, data analysis, and process automation. As our portfolio of renewable energy projects continues to expand, we are looking for someone who can manage complex settlement and reconciliation processes while driving automation initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
The ideal candidate combines a strong background in accounting, audit, financial controls, or financial operations with hands-on experience in automation, process improvement, and data management. Key Responsibilities
Settlement Operations & Financial Analysis
- Manage recurring monthly settlement processes across operating renewable energy projects.
- Analyze settlement calculations, accruals, invoicing activities, and financial reconciliations.
- Interpret complex contractual terms and settlement structures, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), market transactions, and utility settlements.
- Support month-end activities and ensure accurate financial reporting inputs.
Data Automation & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain automated workflows using Python, Google Apps Script, Excel, and Google Sheets.
- Design and improve ETL processes to extract, transform, validate, and organize large volumes of settlement data.
- Eliminate manual processes by building scalable automation solutions.
- Support the transition away from legacy vendor software by developing internal tools and automated alternatives.
- Automate data retrieval from external market and operational data sources.
Controls, Audit & Documentation
- Design processes with strong internal controls and auditability in mind.
- Implement validation checks, exception reporting, and variance analysis within automated workflows.
- Ensure all settlement calculations and reporting outputs are fully documented and audit-ready.
- Support compliance with SOX and other internal control frameworks.
- Create clear process documentation and maintain knowledge repositories.
Technical Data Management
- Read and interpret API documentation, technical specifications, and structured data requirements.
- Work with complex datasets from ISOs, utilities, market operators, and internal systems.
- Support data integration efforts and improve the reliability of settlement-related reporting.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new tools, automations, and process enhancements.
- Validate outputs to ensure financial accuracy and data integrity.
- Troubleshoot issues and continuously improve automated workflows.
Required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within renewable energy, power markets, utilities, or energy settlements.
- Experience working with settlement operations, billing reconciliations, revenue accounting, or complex financial calculations.
- Knowledge of SOX compliance, internal controls, or audit frameworks.
- Experience building automated reporting or financial operations tools from scratch.
