Junior Controller (Accounting & Tax)

We're partnering with a growing US-based company looking to hire a Junior Controller to join their accounting team in Colombia. This is a key leadership position for someone who enjoys taking ownership of accounting operations, tax compliance, and financial reporting while working closely with international stakeholders.

This is a permanent opportunity with high visibility, reporting directly to leadership and helping scale the company's finance operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Oversee corporate tax compliance and statutory reporting.
• Coordinate monthly tax filings and ensure compliance with Colombian regulations.
• Manage relationships with tax authorities, auditors, and external advisors.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Collaborate with US leadership, providing updates and recommendations in English.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting systems and procedures.

Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience in Accounting, with recent experience as a Controller
• Strong knowledge of Colombian corporate accounting and tax regulations.
• Hands-on experience with: Month-end and year-end close, General ledger and journal entries, Financial statements, Corporate tax filings and statutory reporting .
• Advanced English (written and spoken) to communicate directly with US stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA or equivalent preferred).

Nice to Have

• Experience with accounting ERPs such as Contapyme, Siigo, SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar.
• Experience working with international companies or US-based organizations.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new accounting software and business environments.
