🧭 About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Revenue & Settlements Analyst to support our growing renewable energy operations.

This role focuses on managing revenue and settlement processes, analyzing large volumes of complex data, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate combines a solid understanding of accounting and financial operations with advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to independently manage recurring processes with a high degree of accuracy.

Working closely with the settlements and accounting teams, this person will be responsible for validating financial data, investigating discrepancies, reconciling information from multiple sources, and ensuring that settlement results are accurate, well-documented, and delivered on time.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail, and is comfortable navigating complex data and learning new processes. A proactive mindset and willingness to identify opportunities for process improvement are essential. Experience with automation is a plus, but the priority is understanding the underlying data and business processes.

📊 Key Responsibilities

  • Revenue & Settlements Operations
  • Independently manage monthly revenue and settlement processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting for month-end close.
  • Collect, analyze, manipulate, and reconcile large volumes of complex data from multiple sources, including market operators, utilities, and internal systems.
  • Review settlement data, validate financial calculations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure the accuracy of reported results.
  • Prepare counterparty invoices and weekly revenue allocations.
  • Interpret contractual terms, market transactions, and utility settlement structures to understand and validate settlement outcomes.
  • Coordinate with accounting to ensure settlement data is accurate, complete, and ready for month-end reporting.

Data Analysis & Quality Assurance

  • Work extensively with Google Sheets and Excel to organize, analyze, and reconcile complex datasets.
  • Review data for inconsistencies, missing information, calculation errors, and discrepancies between different sources.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot spreadsheet formulas and workflows to improve data accuracy and reliability.
  • Perform detailed validation checks to ensure the integrity of settlement calculations and financial reporting inputs.
  • Investigate issues independently, identify root causes, and communicate findings clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Meet strict reporting deadlines, particularly during month-end close, when settlement data must be reviewed and delivered to accounting within a short turnaround window.

Controls, Documentation & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate, well-documented, and audit-ready settlement processes in accordance with internal control requirements.
  • Ensure that calculations, reconciliations, and supporting documentation are complete and traceable.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of existing processes before recommending or implementing improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual work, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Take initiative in exploring AI tools, automation, and other technical solutions when they can meaningfully improve data management and reporting.

Accountability & Execution

  • Take full ownership of recurring deliverables, consistently meeting deadlines with minimal supervision or follow-up.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues rather than relying on step-by-step instructions.
  • Independently prioritize tasks, manage competing deadlines, and maintain accuracy when working with large volumes of data.
  • Learn new processes and industry concepts quickly, developing a strong understanding of the business context behind the data.
  • Communicate effectively with the settlements and accounting teams to resolve questions and ensure smooth handoffs.

Requirements

✅ Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, financial settlements, revenue reporting, financial operations, or a related analytical field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel, including complex formulas, data manipulation, analysis, and reconciliation of large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial calculations, and reconciliation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, investigate data issues, and validate the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Proven ability to independently manage recurring deliverables and consistently meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, initiative, accountability, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial information and communicate findings clearly.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new processes, understand unfamiliar datasets, and develop knowledge of the energy settlements industry.

Additional Information

🌟 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in renewable energy markets, ISO settlements, utility operations, or energy-related financial processes.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP, particularly ASC 606.
  • Familiarity with internal controls, SOX requirements, and audit documentation.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, APIs, or other data extraction and automation tools.
  • Experience improving spreadsheet-based workflows, automated reporting, or data processing procedures.
  • Familiarity with AI tools to support problem-solving, data analysis, and process improvement.

🎯 What we're looking for

  • We are looking for a proactive, resourceful, and highly detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with complex data and takes pride in delivering accurate results.

The ideal candidate understands that effective analysis begins with understanding the data, the business context, and the process behind it. They are comfortable investigating discrepancies, learning unfamiliar concepts, and taking ownership of tasks from start to finish.

This person should be curious, eager to learn about energy markets and settlement operations, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment with limited resources. They do not need to be an expert programmer, but they should be open to using technology and AI to solve problems and improve the way work gets done.
